Die Pianistin Anna-Maria Maak wuchs in Thüringen auf, wo sie auch ihren ersten Klavierunterricht erhielt. Anschließend besuchte sie das Musikgymnasium „Schloss Belvedere“ in Weimar. Wichtige pianistische und künstlerische Impulse erhielt sie von Gregor Weichert (Münster) und Volkmar Lehmann (Weimar) und in zahlreichen Meisterkursen im In- und Ausland. Zunächst studierte sie Sprachen an der Universität Leipzig, wechselte dann an die Hochschule für Musik Münster um bei Gregor Weichert Klavier zu studieren.
